Hello and welcome!

I’m so glad you’re here!

I offer counselling and art therapy to individuals of all ages, from children as young as four to teens, adults, and the elderly. My work supports people navigating a wide range of life experiences and challenges, including trauma, PTSD, anxiety, depression, self-esteem, identity, infertility, grief and loss, interpersonal skills, and major life transitions.  I have a particular passion for working with neurodivergent clients, including autistic, ADHD, and AuDHD peeps.  I work within a neurodiverse affirming, client-centric, and strengths-based approach to support you on your life’s journey. My therapeutic approach is very relaxed and personable.  I aim to walk alongside you to help achieve wellness and add skills and knowledge to your toolbox in a way that feels right for you.  Embracing and celebrating your unique awesome self!

My sessions are relaxed and flexible, blending art therapy with other therapeutic approaches as needed, such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Mindfulness, Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), Schema Therapy, and Compassion-Focused Therapy (CFT).

I’m passionate about art, psychology, and the beauty of self-expression. I also have a love for all things from My Little Ponies to Frida Kahlo, Mexican culture, and 80s nostalgia.  Love a good Toki Doki mystery box and I am slightly obsessed with stationary and art supplies.

When I’m not working, some of my favourite self-care activities are exploring nature, swimming (boogie boarding), dancing, gardening, board games, playing with my animals, and most definitely painting and drawing. I have been trying my hand at creating a butterfly garden—it’s been super exciting to welcome a few chrysalis into my care!  Cooking is another favourite activity of mine. Like Uncle Roger says, I cook with feeling— I take pre-existing recipes on board, then experiment, adapt as needed, and make it my own.

Therapy can feel a little strange or awkward at times, much like life itself. My goal is to create a warm and supportive space where you can feel at ease. We’ll walk through life’s ups and downs together, at your pace, and embrace all the messy, tricky, and beautiful parts along the way.

Whether you’re wanting to shine bright like a magical unicorn dancing on a rainbow or prefer to quietly recharge like a cat in the darkness with a hint of sunlight warming the soul, I’m here to support and celebrate your true, authentic self—exactly as you are.

Hello and welcome!

Hi Everyone!

I’m a registered psychologist, and was fortunate enough to do my first few years of practice at Left of Centre under the tutelage of Allison Haynes, followed by a stint with forPsych.  I’ve always been interested in human behaviour and what makes us tick, so I originally started my degree in psychology and genetics in the US in 1999, but due to “life happens”, wound up in Australia, eventually working in both the hydraulic and automotive industries, and accidently obtaining degrees in Ancient History (that’s a long story!).  My interest in genetics, and more importantly human behaviour, eventually found me coming back to psychology and obtaining a Bachelor of Psychological Science and Honours in Psychology, and through the course of learning more about neurodivergence, my own AuDHD diagnosis! Who would’ve thought! 😂  My thesis was on humour, memes, and coping with COVID-19, and the work I was doing in that space provided me with an opportunity to have an article related to my research published in the Work-Life Balance Bulletin of the British Psychological Society in 2020.

So, what do I actually do?  I’m a little bit different than most psychologists I’ve been told, but I don’t know any other way to be.  I work from a client-centric approach, believing that the client is the expert on their difficulties, and might just need a little help putting all the pieces together, or gaining some techniques to help them navigate what they are going through.  I work across the entire lifespan, but have particular interest in adolescents and young adults (apprx 13-30yo).  My main focus of practice is primarily Autism, ADHD, anxiety issues, general neurodivergence, religious trauma, and PTSD.  I draw from across different modes of practice (I.e. schema, CBT, ACT, play therapy, etc) to assist a client with their needs in working towards their desired goal from therapy.  My favourite modality is Geek Therapy, which uses the psychology of geek culture (I.e. video games, comic books, movies, tv, Dungeons & Dragons, etc.) to help understand a situation or issue more easily.  I also will be running therapeutic D&D games focusing on improving social skills, teamwork, and working on anxieties in the future.

I’m a big fan of classic cars, Marvel comics, D&D, and both board and video games.  I spend free time working on cars, playing games, or hanging out with my wife.
